Although God loves the whole wide world
And blesses every part
I think he has a special place
For the children of His heart
I think He cherishes their smiles
Their eagerness and mirth
And their appreciation of
The wonders of the earth
I think He listens closely to
Whatever words they say
I think He follows them to school
And watches them at play
And when they go to bed at night
He certainly is there
To see that they have happy dreams
Beneath their tousled hair
All children in their special way
Belong to God above
And I am sure He favors them
With everlasting love

Watch your thoughts,
They become your words.
Watch your words,
They become your actions.
Watch your actions,
They become habits.
Watch your habits,
They become your character.
Watch your character,
It becomes your future.

While teaching a group of K-4th graders, I would play a game with the class called "Guess my animal?" I would show the student who was 'it' an index card with the name of their animal on it, and the student would give simple hints to the class for guessing. Well, I had this one student who was very competitive, but very sweet natured. He was chosen to be 'it' and boy, was he excited! He ran to the front of the classroom and was so very focused on doing a good job. This was his time to shine! He even asked to see the card 3 times before he began his hint giving. The student began with a simple hint: "This animal starts with an L." Of course, the entire class starts shouting out their guesses of lion, llama, etc....then the student shushes the group with determined focus. The student prepared himself, and said with such confidence & poise, "My animal starts with an L, and is in the -izzard family." I couldn't stop laughing! This is why teaching is wonderful!

While working at a summer camp for kids, I was responsible for taking a group of kids to the archery field for some fun time every day. To get to the archery field, we had to walk about 1/4 mile in dirt and we had to be careful of snakes as we had rattlers - so we had signs warning of snakes along the path. On one hot day, I was taking a group of 2nd-3rd graders to the archery field. While we were walking through the dirt field, one of the sweetest little girls asked me a very serious question. The little girl asked, "Mrs. Jenny, why do we have signs along the path, if snakes can't read?" Too cute!

While reading the crucifixion story of Christ Jesus, the Bible specifically states that Mary Magdalene, and Mary were there. One of my students asked the question, why does it not have Jesus' mom's last name? It's a good question....I wonder. Then one my students blurted out..."Jesus has a last name?" Quite curious what he has discovered, I asked, "Well, what is it?" He quite honestly said, "Christ! Jesus-Christ.....Christ is his last name!" Ü
